Christopher Needham BDS

Dental Surgeon - GDC Number 82403

Christopher graduated from University of Liverpool Dental School in 2003.  After spending time working in an NHS practice in Glossop, he joined Arundel Dental Practice in 2005. Following Charles Brown's retirement in 2008, Chris became Practice Principal here at Arundel.

Since 2008, Chris has been implementing his vision for a friendly, well respected and welcoming practice.

As well as providing general dental care, Chris has completed several post graduate courses in endodontics and restorative dentistry.  The Aesthetic Restorative Course, learning new restorative techniques and adhesive dentistry (bonding), has been particularly beneficial.

Chris' focus is always on minimal intervention and minimally invasive dentistry and has a keen interest in the treatment of tooth wear.  This is an increasing problem as patients retain their natural teeth for longer. He uses modern minimally invasive techniques and adhesive dentistry (bonding) which minimises the risks to the natural teeth.

Chris is married with 2 ever growing children and enjoys spending his free time with them.  Chris also enjoys going to the gym, playing football and taking part in the occasional triathlon.

Michael Clark BDS MSc (Endo)

Dental Surgeon - GDC Number 150444

Michael graduated from the School of Dentistry at Birmingham University in 2008 and spent 6 years working in a mixed NHS/private practice in his hometown of Northampton. He moved to the North West in 2014, joining Arundel Dental as an associate, initially working 2 days a week. After 12 months, Michael was asked to become Principal dentist, taking over from Clive Oldham who was happy to retire in the knowledge that he was leaving the practice and his patients with a safe and caring pair of hands.

Michael has a keen interest in all aspects of general dentistry from simple fillings, to more complicated crown, bridge and cosmetic treatments. His calm and relaxed manner will put you at ease from the moment you walk in the door. This has enabled even the most anxious of patients to undergo advanced procedures.

Michael’s passion within dentistry is endodontics (root canal treatments and he completed a 3 year postgraduate MSc in endodontics in October 2016, graduating with Merit. Michael accepts endodontic (root canal treatment) referrals from other practices.

James Stafford BDS MFDS RCS(Edin) MSc (distinction)

Dental Surgeon - GDC Number 85654

James is an award-winning dentist with practice limited to implant dentistry and oral surgery. James regularly visits Arundel Dental Practice to perform oral surgery procedures, including implant placement for our registered patients.

He gained his undergraduate BDS degree from the University of Sheffield, winning the prestigious national “Heraeus Kulzer” prize awarded by the British Society for the Study of Prosthetic Dentistry for work on the replacement of missing teeth.

James began his post-graduate training in implantology in 2008 at the University of Warwick where he completed a Masters degree, achieving both distinction and also the prize for highest clinical and academic marks.  Further post-graduate studies have been undertaken at respected institutions such as Cardiff University, the Eastman Dental Institute, and the Malo Clinic in Lisbon. This extensive training has provided a solid background for advanced techniques such as autogenous bone grafting and sinus floor elevation, as well as graftless solutions such as the Nobel Biocare All-on-4 concept. James also uses modern computer-aided digital concepts to improve diagnosis, treatment planning, and treatment outcomes.

In addition to focusing on implant dentistry, James has spent several years in hospital based Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, and has been accepting referrals for oral surgery in Cheshire for almost 10 years. He has performed over 1000 procedures using intravenous sedation, and several thousand more with local anaesthetic.

James acts on the GDC (General Dental Council) list of experts and advisors for oral surgery and implant dentistry, using his extensive experience to give opinions and advice to the regulatory body that governs the dental profession. He is also a mentor for students undertaking the post-graduate Masters Degree programme at Edge Hill University.

James says:

“I enjoy implant dentistry so much because it is evolving all the time. New techniques and materials are constantly being introduced to give the best and most predictable results, although successful outcomes have always been based on biological principals which will never change.

Being able to provide a wide range of surgical and restorative implant treatments and combining this with a current knowledge of research gives the best chance of the optimal solution being found for both the patient and the clinician.

I enjoy presenting current research through public speaking, and am always keen to share knowledge and experience through teaching and mentorship to other dentists with an interest in implant surgery.”
